RC3: "Open with" videos

Post by Danny »

Opening a video file with the default system application (by pressing F3 for example) doesn't work. It doesn't do anything.

:) Hello !

- I cannot confirm, I just tested some *.mpg and *. wmv, this opens the Windows Media Player alright, as well from the local menu as with the F3 key…

I can't confirm - MPC opens the video just fine.

Now that's a really strange one: My default video player is VLC and XNView shows the mentioned bug if i try to open a video pressing F3.

So out of curiosity i made MPC my default player and suddenly it worked.

How is this possible? How can it be that XNView won't open VLC but MPC?

VLC might be using a non-standard method for associating files.

I just had a look at it in my registry and you're kinda right. VLC is using "Play" instead of "Open" as default command.... XNView seems to be looking for the "open" command though....
