Some of the search tool conditions have options for greater than, less than, and between two values. Shown in the attached screenshot, observed on version 1.9.5 w/ Windows 11 (64-bit)
Would it be possible to add those options to the Ratio search condition?
I use XnView MP to manage my photo library (memes, fan art, game/video screenshots) which leaves me with a fair number of non-uniform image ratios.
I have been using the browser's Sort by setting to sort by ratio, but this prevents me from being able to sort by anything else.

Re: Range options for Ratio in search tool
Welcome to the forums...
One thing you can do to return a range of aspect ratios is to use some of the more advanced capabilities of the search. Add a Group, then add multiple aspect ratios within the group, and set "Match inside this group" to ANY.
Another approach to your problem is to use the Aspect Ratio property in the Catalog Filter. First filter for the aspect ratios you want, and then you can sort by other fields in details view.
You may not be aware of these capabilities because you're running an old version of XnViewMP.
You should upgrade to the latest version, 1.11.2, which contains a great many improvements over 1.9.5.

Re: Range options for Ratio in search tool
Did upgrade to 1.11.2, am liking this new GROUP search condition.
Unfortunately the Ratio search condition is a drop down menu with pre-configured options, which won't help narrow down my results at all. Great if I'm looking for pictures at that exact ratio, but I'm hoping to search for a range in-between two given ratios
Same with the Aspect Ratio "Property" from the Catalog Filter, I can catalog search to images that have the ratios listed, but not images between the selected ratios. This search does provide some "band" to the results (filtering for 1:1 provides 1.05:1 to 1:1.05) but I'm hoping for a much broader band

Re: Range options for Ratio in search tool
I meant that the grouping allows you to search for multiple aspect ratios at once. But no, it doesn’t help much for in between values.
Short of waiting for an XnViewMP upgrade, the only other thing I could suggest is use a custom exiftool config to add a decimal/numeric aspect ratio field, and then you could use XnViewMP's search functionality to search across multiple values of that tag for a range.
