XnView: MP 1.11.2 - 64 bit
OS: Windows - 64bit
Crop mode is not usable if mouse left button is set to anything other than 'Make selection' in XnView MP settings.
Effect: Crop mode is not usable because the user can't drag a crop rectangle.
To reproduce:
1. In Settings > Mouse > Left button > No modifier > change option to anything other than 'Make selection'
2. Open an image and go into Crop mode
3. Try to drag a crop rectangle
Actual behaviour (bug): Can't drag a crop rectangle
Expected behaviour: When going into Crop mode, XnView MP should ignore the mouse setting and stick to the 'Make selection' setting

This is false. Crop mode also works normally if LMB is set to Zoom Selection. Crop coordinates can also be set without drawing a marquee at all by using the coordinate entry fields on the crop toolbar.greenletter wrote: Mon Jun 22, 2026 1:37 pm Crop mode is not usable if mouse left button is set to anything other than 'Make selection' in XnView MP settings.
More importantly, the crop tool works by letting you crop using your preferred selection method. Since you already know about the ability to change mouse settings in Settings:Mouse, it's puzzling why you would believe there is any issue here.
You have no less than NINE opportunities in that settings page to set one of the mouse buttons (modified or unmodified) to "Make Selection".
So set one of them to Make Selection, and Crop mode will work with that.
If you want unmodified LMB to do something else, fine. So set something like Alt-LMB or Alt-RMB to Make Selection, and use that in Crop mode.
This is not a bug. The program is working as designed.
