Not delete but trash - wording upon file removal

Post by postcd »

Tools>Settings> type "delete" > File operations.
"Use recycle bin" and "Confirm file delete" options are ticked.

When i do a files removal action, for example using files explorer in XNViewMP 1.11.5, then the confirmation window mentions "delete" which always make me concerned because i want trashing, not delete. I prefer action which can be undo.

Proposal: When trashing is set (in settings), maybe file removal window should mention trash, not delete, so it is more clear and convenient for the user, ensuring action can be undo.

Menu Entry also mentions "Delete", maybe it should mention "Remove", which is more universal for both variants trash/permanent delete.
Linux user, .deb package. Use private services like Proton.me, not surveillance services like Google, Meta.

I agree the wording of the delete confirmation dialog should reflect the “Use Recycle Bin” setting.

But I think there is no need to change all the menu and toolbar options. People who are that nervous can turn on the confirmation dialog.

After all, there’s a key on the keyboard for it, and the label doesn’t change but people aren’t afraid to press it. :)
