1.11.5 Wrong color rendering on some files.

Post by Ugarator »

Some files (pretty old Jpegs and GIFs) rendered incorrectly, in browser preview, and in viewer too - deep black is rendered as blue.

i accidentally catched this, at first i thought of file corruption :D

Color management is OFF (turning it on does not help). Files does not have alpha channel or transparency.
Old version of XnView (with the same config) does not show this behavior.
OS: Windows 11 25H2 HiDpi mode ON

how to reproduce: just run XnView and go to folder with such files.

I attached some screeenshots to clarify.
I also attached the files causing bug. (ned.jpg and RosenKatze.gif)

Welcome to the forums...

This is not a bug. You're confused by a new feature: Show Highlight/Shadow Clipping
This was added in 1.11.1

You have turned it on. By default, it's bound to the J key.

Read more about it here: viewtopic.php?p=213646#p213646

In the future, when you're confused by something, please post questions in the MP-General Support forum.

The Bug Reports forum is only for when you're certain you've found a bug.

It would benefit you going forward if you read the new features documentation posted in the thread I linked to when new versions come out, as it will inform you of important changes and enhancement to the application. It's easy to find: it's pinned to the top of the MP-General Support forum.

This feature would be less confusing for people if the clipping regions blinked, but that functionality has not yet been added.
