Open With PNG or JPEG

Open a JPEG in XnView MP Viewer, full screen view.
Right-click the image.
Choose Open With → Affinity Photo 2.
Affinity receives a temporary file named xnview_xxxxxx.png.

Expected behavior:
Affinity should receive the original JPEG, consistent with File → Open With.

Maybe this is standard behavior, but XnView sends a PNG file to Affinity Photo 2 if I right click a full screen view jpeg in XnView, and select "Open W" Affinity Photo 2.

Is that a designed behavior or can it be changed to send whatever the original file type is?
As it is, XnView does not recognize my editing the png it sent, so no changes.

I cannot reproduce

it only happens when I send modified and unsaved image to an external app (which is correct behavior)
