I am a bit apprehensive about posting here because apparently, certain conditions are to be met when reporting problems.
I am fully aware that there are already some threads discussing the same issue, but I did not find a solution in any of them.
So let me first state that this post is not about sorting images in various orders. That works fine, I can sort by date, type, name, number or whatever without any problem.
The problem arises when I want to batch-rename images but need to change the order in which to rename them or assign new numbering. Currently, it is not possible to move an image up or down on the list of images. The old interface for batch-renaming was more user-friendly, and the buttons for moving the images up and down worked fine, so that I could reorganise the pictures in the order I wanted. The new buttons at the upper right-hand corner for changing the order do not work.
So I apologise in advance, but please do not answer this by giving me a link to another thread discussing the same issue unless it has a way of solving the matter or tells that this matter has been noted and will be addressed in future versions. I rename files in folders almost daily, and now have to use XnView Classic, which still works perfectly, as it has always done.
Thanking you for your patience

Re: 1.11.5 Cannot change order when batch-renaming
It’s a bug in the new dialog that has already been reported. You will have to wait for a fix.
I won’t bother to link to the threads; you can find it in the Bug Reports New board if you’re interested.
There’s no workaround other than to install and use the prior version before the bug was introduced, which you’re free to do.
Here’s a link.
