Comparison and Crop

I don't know from where it comes, if it's the Crop tool that modify the lightning or the comparison tool but I found an unexpected difference.

I made a safe copy of a recent picture, did a Crop 16:9 and compared.
1st of all, it's not obvious to see the cropped one over the original. I expected to be able to see the cropped one alone on one side and the original on the other.

Second, the cropped one looks a bit darker (visible also in the graphs). We can see the limit of the 16:9 and the darker wall.

perhaps its an image file with gain map (hdr)

Image was taken with my phone. I checked the parameters and don’t see anything like HDR. But nowadays that's probably by default.

Là encore j’ai essayé de faire un enregistrement d’écran pour montrer la différence de ton et le pb de visibilité de le bord la version découpée. Mais dès qu'on active l’enregistrement la différence de ton disparaît

oui c'est le mode HDR gain map, c'est une horreur à gérer... vous avez le problem en essaynt de faire une copie ecran sur la mode vue?

Yes, I do see the difference in the view mode, as well as in slideshow and comparison. I took 3 examples with scenes having different luminosity, cropped each in 16:9 and compared the originals and the cropped. Each time the cropped one is slightly darker.

I found that depending on the position of the original image (4:3) being on the left side and the cropped (16:9) on the right side it’s ok but the contrary not Ok. You have to play with the sort options in order to switch them.

yes, i don't support gain map in saving (like many apps) but it's in my TODO

Confirmed. I cropped with the Samsung Gallery app and by eyes, brightness/contrast is similar to original. One more ToDo on the desktop
