Photos on external drive

Hi, I know this may not be easy.

I have my photos on a share hard disk on my house network. Would it be possible to search for that drive (maybe IP address, or....) to be able to manage the pictures from the phone?

I suppose this is not easy because the normal file manager from the phones, or gallery apps cannot see the drive. I have had to download a more advanced file manager just to be able to see the content on this drive. But still, this may be a good feature.
