I just noticed that writing metadata (XMP Tags via the "categories" feature) to my photos causes quite some serious problems.
I can't relate it to a specific version of XnView MP on Windows 11, I recently tried older versions which I thought they worked in the past but I encountered the same Problems which are:
– Windows doesn't show the tags in Explorer
- XnView can't sort the pics by EXIF capture dates after that (the dates didn't show up then on the image management thumbs as before
I only can fix that problems that way:
– Adding / changing the EXIF image description using another software (nomacs Image Lounge) after that the Tags are shown in Windows Explorer.
– by using the "changing the time and date"-feature on XvView (the EXIF capture dates are shown after that again)
That are two quite annoying and time-consuming problems, therefore I hope for a quick solution.
I have the Impression that metadata is written in a wrong way to the JPG-Pics by XnView so other Applications can't use them or have to fix them.

Re: Series problems with changing metadata
Can you see something different (before / after) in XMP, IPTC, EXIF tabs in "Info" area ?
Are you using special character set (country ?)
The modified files are in the main disk C: ?
