Wish: Image 'minimap'

Post by crazytb » Wed Apr 14, 2004 10:15 am

I want a 'image minimap', like WarCraft 2, Total Annihilation and all other strategy games minimap. It will be like 'minimap' of Gimp (see screenshot). I don't know the real name of this thing, but it is REALLY useful.

I already know about middle-click on Linux and right-click on Windows, which allow me to 'move' the image, but on a big image (or a really zoomed image) this isn't as useful as 'minimap'.

CrazyTB, good to have you back in the XnView newsgroup!

In Adobe PhotoShop this thingy is called 'Navigator', which is a name that fits well, I think. Important is that you cannot just see the area which is displayed, but also navigate in the 'minimap'.
Apart from displaying/setting the position (area displayed) there is a slide to set the Zoom factor. Pretty handy...
