And you fire ?????

- Indeed, as much more buttons as you want, I agree and support…
- But please, tell me which actual ones you would fire ?
- With the actual system using a “frozen” single bitmap, there are only two solutions :
1. Fire existing buttons to recover their locations on the bitmap - and update all the skins-, {*}
2. Increase the bitmap at size (more icons) - and remake all the skins…

• I've proposed other ways for a while, including the addition of extra-tool-bar(s) as plugins, quite unsuccessfully till today…
- It should be coherent to support such requests and ideas while it's obvious that much more buttons are needed, and cannot be added in the practice…
{*} In 1.82.2, not even all skins have been updated about the new browser small bar… Mine are.

Maybe we could use "deluxe system" (of buttons) - Pierre?

not the skin---
—> SeaMaiden
Hello T. !
• That is lame here is not the skin-thing, but the basic original tool-bar system itself, which is indeed very limited and impractical when one wishes to add buttons…
- Even remaking a 50-icon skin should not solve the issue definitely…
… since soon or later some users will request more than 50 icons for more than 50 internal commands…
- It's quite possible to have better; for instance, in Total Commander you can set as so numerous icons as you wish, as several bars -but only one can be displayed at the same time, and each one can call any other-; any icon of any size can be used for any button, as *.ICO, from an ICL, DLL, EXE etc… I can't imagine that programme having a "frozen" tool bar limited to 33 buttons - like XnView currently-, or even a few more, it has legion of internal commands (documented), and XnView has a lot too (not documented yet?)…
I pay my respects to you,
Claude

Re: DX: 'Create' toolbar button (with sub-items)
Because main menu cannot be disabled, you'd always get the menu twice, once in main menu and once on a button- working exactly the same way. Seems useless redundancy.Dreamer wrote:'Create' toolbar button (with sub-items)...

There could be an option to disable menu in the future and it could be more useful with another idea...Xyzzy wrote:Because main menu cannot be disabled, you'd always get the menu twice, once in main menu and once on a button- working exactly the same way. Greetings!
Have you tried the SpeedCommander 11 toolbar system? It works almost exactly like Microsoft Office, even provides an icon editor "inline"...
The DOpus toolbar system works well, too.
I really like the TC ability to drag files and folders to the toolbar and have them automatically become drop points.
A combination of the TC approach with the SC 11 approach would be fantastic in XNView.

A way to find…

Hello John !
• For instance : unable to extract ¦ use icons from a multi-page TIFF containing only icons, much more simpler to create - with XnView - than ICLs…
Maybe… Could you show us a more precise approach ? Fake dialogues welcome !
Kind regards,
Claude

- I may admit I didn't, first 'cause SC is not really localizable yet, so I avoid it like the plague, and 2nd. 'cause I'm neither an intensive user of M$ Office, nor a fanatic of its icons system…Have you tried the SpeedCommander 11 toolbar system? - I do too ! IMHO, it's the best tool-bar system - at least among those I know -, even if it has still some lacunæ like a single icon-size for bar #1 and all sub-bars, and other minor thingumabobs in the same painting…I really like the TC ability to drag files and folders to the toolbar and have them automatically become drop points.
