Ability to change any font/background color for file list (all modes) and folder tree.
Now it's not possible to use dark background, since font is unreadable in other modes.
E.g. If you set colors in options> Browser > Thumbnail > Label to white and black, text is unreadable in Thumbnails view - on folders and hard readable even in Thumbnails & Labels view on jpg files.
Another problem - "Type Colours" should be changed to darker for dark backgrounds and "hover" color should be changed too - manually or automatically, e.g. "[x] Dark mode" option.
Edit:
Sub-request - also background for thumbnails view - with 'Use shadow' enabled could be customizable. Currently there is always white background used, because of some problems with shadow on other backgrounds.
Sub-sub-request : "Shadow" working with 16-bit color depth too …

Agree & support---
Hello !
- I agree and support !
- Especially about "Colours by file-types" (which might be the right wording, IMHO).
- I spent some hours a while ago to study these colours, and even if they are not too badly ranked with default colours, they are indeed inconvenient with customized ones in many cases…
• Moreover, the number of types is very limited…
- We have that feature totally configurable in TC, even for files without extension and folders (according to attributes or so), but it needs to use advanced "Search" features, and it's not very simple to set for the average user.
• However, the number of types is limited in the practice only by sufficiently different hues you are able to distinguish with a certain given background colour…

I had the dark background problem aswell which is now fixed in the current version of XnView.
More options to fully configure colore would be welcome for me aswell.
I think I would especially like this on the Mac version (I`m planning to switch) since as far as I am informed a dark background color cannot be configured system wide (in the Finder for example).
