Caching images on CD Roms

In XnView a so called cache is available which can hold a copy of the thumbnails for fast display.
Is it possible to create a cache with relative file-names / paths?
My idea is the following: I would like to archive all my jpgs on CD-Rom, and I would like to use the cache and save it to the CD-Rom as well.
My Problem: The cache seems to use fixed path-names, so the CD-Rom (having a different drive name, e.g. d:\ vs. c:\my_temp_pictures\) will not make use of the cache (except for when I look at the pictures a second time, but that is not what I want).
Said differently: Can I save my pictures on CD-Rom and include a cache which will speed up the first display of the thumbnails of the pictures (no matter on which computer (or even OS) I look at the CD-Rom)?

I do understand your idea, but cached files per directory is not supported in XnView.

This might be a useful enhancement/option. But then it must be ensured that future XnView versions are still able to read the cache file.

thanks for your reply.
"relative-path"-caches (or whatever you would like to call them) seem to be a very useful feature, and I hope this will possible in a future version of Xnview. It would appear to me that this should be not too difficult to implement.
Thanks once more,
Thomas

If possible, the relative cache should be compatible with other image viewers. As far as I know, each viewer (Thumbs Plus, XV, Gimp, any other) has its particular way of storing thumbnail caches. The heaven should be a place where any of these programs could read any format. I know, it is almost impossible to do, but if XnView can read some formats from other applications, it will be one step to heaven! :) :D
