visual batch crop

Post by Tommy »

actually for batch cropping multiple images you have to give x,y, width, height coordinates.

i think showing a crop mask on picture and then apply it's coordinates to all the others would be much easier and intuitive.

Semi-auto

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !

- Indeed, I support !

- I thought too that a "semi-automatic" process could be useful in some cases.
- In example, get a mask as a “solid” selection (specially marked - colour or else-) that you could be able to place where you wish on the picture to crop.
- Then, you crop it, i.e. by a "Go!" button >> The next image is shown plus the mask >> Place the mask >> "Go!" and so on…

 Kind regards,
Claude

Like this ?

:) Hello again !

• I guess that a simple addition in the Edit menu —> Set Selection size could do the trick, both for that you wish to define the mask and to use this saved mask too for a semi-auto handling like below :

• Hoping it's self-explanatory… :)

Fake !

Post by Clo »

:) Not any programme ! This is quite a fake I drew from the small “Auto-crop" dialogue…
- Then, simply M$-Paint, XnView… and my old fingers ! :P

- It could be a stand alone function as well, just needs means to select the files for the batch.
- Hence, variants can be imagined, this is just a base…

Claude

is anybody in the developing team considering this new feature idea?

actually i use JPEGcrops (http://ekot.dk/programmer/JPEGCrops/) to do visual batch cropping of images.

it would be great to do the same with Xnview.
remember that XnView can already do batch cropping but only using x,y coordinates, but not with a graphic interface modality like JPEGcrops
