XnView from removable medium

Post by Guest »

Halo all together.

I know, there is some documentation regards running Xnview from any removable medium (CD, DVD, flash and so on).
But one my question stayes still unanswered.

The cache function is in focus now.
I have quite full installation of xnview on each CD/DVD containing my photos,
so I can on conformtable and the same way present the photos acros the
friend and family. Independently from windows version running on PC where the photos have to be presented. To have a Xnview copy on each such medium has second goal as well. If the friend does not have any good picture viewer on its system I can occasionally install him XnView.

OK, now the kernel problem. Actually one can not predict what directory structure has the PC of a friend. Therefore it's difficult in advance (during creation the CD/DVD) to set an optimal cache directory. I have set in my ini-file the following path to this dict: %windir%\temp. But I not sure if all windows version do support this directory on default.
What does happen, if the set cache directory does not exist on the system ?
Do I have to ensure it using the batch file ?

I didn't try it.
I wonder it can work.

Please note, you have always the read-only access
to your CD/DVD. How can XnView cache then there its information,
without the write permissions ?
