At present you can extract frames from, say, an avi file, by specifying the range of frames by frame number. That is useful if you happen to know the number of the frames that you want.
However, if you watch a video clip and you see something you want a still frame of, you have to calculate the number of frames from the elapsed time, which is not something I would like to do many times. Therefore, I think that an option to extract the current frame would be nice. If this could be done so that the frames are captured without stopping the playback, so much the better. A button in the toolbar and an associated shortcut would be ideal.
If the realtime extraction cannot be done, an option to show the current frame number in the extraction panel would still be useful.

I've never used the extraction of frames myself, but always wondered how one should find out the frame number.
