At least that's what I think it's doing. Let me explain:
I use Forte Agent to browse the newsgroups and download photos where appropriate. Xnview is my jpg association in Win2K so in Agent when I launch an attachment (a jpg) Xnview starts and displays (full screen) the image. At least this is what happens when the jpg name does not include any spaces.
When the name includes spaces Xnview chokes and says "Error Opening File". Ooops! There's a workaround: press enter and Xnview's browser points to the file in the last directory used (in my case: \Agent\Temp) and a click on that (even though it clearly has spaces in the name) produces the image in the view pane.
Is this a bug in Xnview? In Agent? Or am I simply not setting some parameter correctly?

I think you stumbled into a known problem of XnView, please see Opening files with spaces in names/create new image.FeelFree wrote:...

OK, thanks for the reply. I also posted a similar request in alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent and received a reply which solved the problem:
"In Agent's MIME Types, if you have entered XnView as the application
for image/jpeg, delete the entry and try again. If that doesn't work
or you haven't entered XnView as the application in Agent's MIME Types
do so now, but enclose the path and program name in quotes and also
include %1 in quotes, like this example:
"C:\Program Files\XnView\xnview.exe" "%1"
Then you shouldn't have any problems with spaces in the path or the
filename when launching files with XnView from within Agent."
It now works fine regardless of the spaces in filename.
