categories - albums

Since Xnview Deluxe is dead would you be willing to add these back in?

I am aware that others have been asking about this but I thought the more people keep bringing this up the more chance that it might get implemented.

Thanks for the great program.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, categories are better and that would be nice to have.

At work we have been using the latest ACDSee to browse through our references. I am a 3d modeler and I found it nice that I can (when browse through a ref. folder on the network) tag images and have them appear in my special category (lets say... armor, boots, head shots, etc ) without having to physically move them. The ones I do not need anymore I can select them all and uncheck them or use del key to remove them from category only.

At home I use xnview to brows through my family photos and I thought that would be nice to have the ability to do the same. It would be nice to separate the ones I would like to print...etc.

And as you said (made me think) albums are not that important.

Reason I am asking is that gaming company I work for, Raven Software is looking for a new cheaper solution that will replace ACDSee 7 and 8. They have about 150 (or close) employees and will need soon something. They have been doing a research for the best and cheapest solution. Right now they are testing FotoAlbum Pro http://www.fototime.com/pages/faprointro . To me it looks nothing compared to xnview "but" it has organizational capabilities.

All they want is a solid organizer... and you've got everything else but it. Well, for everything else we use other professional packages. I do like xnview and I have asked them about it and what I got was "well, it is a good browser and viewer but that is it".
It would be nice to have cataloging like acdsee has and even better... this would make it (for what we need anyway) the top image browser.

ps
I am new to this forum so please forgive my ignorance for not reading all the posts that have been posted on this subject. This could have been asked before.
The next release 1.90 will have perhaps the categories feature from Deluxe version, the beta version will be available (i hope) in 2 weeks...
Pierre.
