I'm testing it, resizing won't work when opening image, but when I zoom and unzoom, then it works

strange thing: I open images in "fit to window" mode. if this shrinks image to 42% then resizing won't work, but images shrinked to 57% work! It seems that images shrinked under 50% won't work... :(

well, I use XNView for making thumbnails - those images are cut from original image. So I open image with XN by clicking on image in XNView explorer. point is here: I double clicked the file and the image was shown and fit to window (this is the mode I view images). my photos are 2048x1536, and my monitor is 1280x1024, so images weren't shown in their true size, but only about 50% resized.

in older versions I could right now select an area from the image and crop what I wanted. it's impossible to select the desired area every time, so I have to correct it. this makes me no trouble, I can resize the selection in the way I want

in new version I can select an area, too, but can't resize selection. strangely, when I zoom in, I can resize the selection. the second strange thing is that - it appears that if the opened image is fit to findow so that's less than 50% shrinked, resizing the selection works, but if more than 50% shrinked, it doesn't work.

so, what is important - I can't resize selection when I just opened any image fit to window and it's shrinked 50% or more.

hope you understand me, sorry about my terrible english :( .

Small black resize handle does not match the resize area

Post by helmut »

Zombux et al,

perhaps this reflects your problem:

"When trying to resize an existing selection in an image, the square resize handles are used. Sometimes, when moving the mouse on the handle, the shape of the mouse cursor does not change and the user cannot resize. The area for resizing does not match the resize handle (perhaps a problem in the position calculation)."

Could you please verifiy whether this is the problem you experience by moving the mouse cursor around the small black resize handle and see whether it changes its shape for horizontal / vertical resizing?

Cheers,

Helmut

if zoomed less than 50%, it doesn't.

Thank you for your answer, but this does not answer my question. Could you please try moving the mouse nearby one of the four small black square resize handles (you have to play around with the mouse a bit)? If you cannot find a location where the mouse cursor changes it's shape to 'Horizontal' or 'vertical' resize, your problem is a different one.

sure I tried it, even with shift, ctrl or alt pressed, these small resizing squares don't work in the situation I wrote above. if I zoom in or out then, they work.
