Folders which contain djvu files cause XnView to crash

I installed XnView v. 1.82.4 (WinXP SP2). Whenever I open a folder in XnView which contains one or more djvu files, the program exits immediately without displaying any error message. A sample djvu file which causes XnView to crash is this one: http://www.if.ufrgs.br/~rns/crash_xnview.djvu . Just copy it to a given folder and open this folder in XnView to reproduce the error.

Strange, i have not the crash... Someone can reproduce it?

Hello Pierre,

- Not any crash here when I open the folder.
- But I can't open the image to view it, it's opened in hexa in the browser, despite this option is NOT ticked !

- I've Xdjvu.dll (a very old one… 2002)

- With D&D in TC, message "Unknown format", both with 1.82.4 and 1.90A2

Maybe this is useful, the file Xdjvu.dll which came installed with XnView has version 1.82. The program still crashes with the given djvu file.

I have the same problem when dvju files are present in the browsed folder (winXP sp2 here): when I try to open such a folder in XNview browser, the whole prog just exits. If XNview opens with a folder to which djvu files have been added, it shows Hex for djvu files if I click on them, and the program stalls completely if I try to click on whatever options at all. This happens with and without the xdjvu.dll plugin present.

I have LizardTech document express Pro v.6 installed, maybe some of its dlls are conflicting?

I have the latest version of XNview.

I was wondering if it's possible to batch convert tifs to djvu with xdjvu plugin present - seems like it's not going to happen for me

Xnview can't save DJVU files, it can only read them. I think imgage magick can do what you want, but no other progs that I know of can. (Progs which can save in DjVU format usually don't have batch features, not unless you pay a fortune for the one from lizardtech.)

Actually, I discovered that this situation depends on the kind of djvu files involved. Some djvu files don't cause that problem and are viewed normally as images - I have one such file (downloaded from here: http://tinyurl.com/yzfatr) and what's interesting is that it can't be opened in the Lizardtech Document Express Editor Pro v.6. (but can be viewed in the Lizardtech file viewer).

The ones that cause crash problem to XNview and appear in Hex have been created with Document Express Pro v.6 (converted from TIFF scans). Here's a sample: http://www.webfile.ws/d/15477

I don't know what tool lets one know which software a djvu file was created with, so I don't know how the "good" one is different.

I am not familiar with image magic but here's what i just read on their forum, maybe it can explain some of the problem:

DjVu is crippled by offering less efficient compression algorithms.
You have to buy commercial product in order to use the really cool
