Saving new size of image setting by zoom +/-

Post by bravd »

How about possibility saving changed image size by setting it by zoom (+/-)? -the alternative method for "image->resize"...

For example: I have an image and I want to decrease it, but I don't know exactly destination size...then I simply use my mouse scroll wheel and choose the size I want by zooming...next press "save" or "save as" and that's all. I get an image with new size.
I'm not sure if it's possible, but I thought this could work for e.g. by holding ctrl+zoom (holding "ctrl" will affect that the new size of image will be remembered as a changes in file (like in image->resize), so program will ask on exit about "save the changes" even if we didn't save these changes right after resizing). Zooming without holding "ctrl" will not affect any fixed changes.
...the actual size of image could be showing (all the time, during the setting size by zooming +/-) on the status bar, next to the percent value...

A good idea - with some simple steps you can achieve this, too:

1.) Zoom the image to a size you like.
2.) In statusbar have a look at the Zoom factor and remember it (e.g. 25 %)
3.) Select "Image > Resize..."
4.) In "Resize" dialog, set the unit to "%".
5.) In "Width" type in the percentage you have just remembered.
6.) Select "OK" button.
Done.

That's fairly easy - I don't think that we need a special saving or similar.

This has also been suggested for Wallpapers (ie: resize and move/crop) and someone suggested using a simple 'print screen'+Paste to get the same thing.

Still, the idea might be interesting (need to be discussed further though) -> postponed.
