Re: Problems with exiftool under Linuxmint Mate 20

Hope, it is possible and accepted to "revive" this thread..
Although meanwhile I am on Linux Mint 22.1 , XnViewMP 1.8.3 and have manually updated exiftool to 13.16 , I still cannot "invoke" or use exiftool as I use to do under windows. Reason might be my poor Linux knowledge in general, so again ...

Yes, of course. Used the wrong wording. Meant "cmdupdate_Files". My bad. Sorry.

Re: Problem 'base path' and force 'update catalog from files'

Dear Pierre, need to re-open this issue again and would like to request your support, once again, please.

After the incorporated changes from you, now I cannot export XMP data to files in the base-path .
It works well and as expected on different path's ( other than basePath, e.g. "C ...

Re: unmarked catgories

Dear Pierre, this is the same as I wanted to describe in my earlier post .
I cannot tell until which version of XnViewMP, but I am sure, in the past the "uncategorized" item also respected the "match" selection (e.g. for a specific folder or specific folder and subfolders).

It would be great, if ...

Re: Problem 'base path' and force 'update catalog from files'

Dear Pierre, the bug seems to be fixed. I tested it with 4...5 folders, after adjusting the base path and altering the database.
Thank you!

Re: Category filter - "special items" not respecting "match" settings

Dear Pierre, sorry for keeping you waiting with an answer or test.

For me, the issue is still not fixed. I cannot search for items "without category" in a specific folder.
The search still runs globally. The bug is still present, from my point of view.

Category filter - "special items" not respecting "match" settings

Dear Pierre, dear users,

For me, it seems the catalog filter in version 1.6.3 64-bit (Windows) - Libformat 7.167 is not working properly.
I am trying to search for uncategorized items in a specific folder (with/without subfolder(s))

Obviously the "Match" setting is not ...

Re: Problems with exiftool under Linuxmint Mate 20

tried single quotes around the complete term...
'-overwrite_original -k -xmp-dc:subject<iptc:keywords'

as well as around each parameter
'-overwrite_original' '-k' '-xmp-dc:subject<iptc:keywords'

without luck :(

Maybe exiftool needs to be accessible system-wide or a "rights-problem"
Too much ...

Re: Problems with exiftool under Linuxmint Mate 20

Thanks for your quick answer, michel038!

I don't know how ExifTool should be used, if it needs to be installed, and if it needs a library (perl ?)

Thought about this, as well. On the other hand, I can use the standalone exiftool in /opt/XnView/AddOn, when calling directly from the commandline ...

Good evening,

I would like to request advice or support with
