XnViewMP 1.8.7 correctly saves jpegli parameters into .xbs now.
However, XnConvert 1.104 is still broken and needs the fix as well.

[XnConvert] JPEGLI is missing conversion parameters in .xbs
I've created a simple testscript for XnViewMP-Batch 1.8.6 as well as XnConvert 1.0.4
The purpose of the script is to convert images to JPEGLI with a quality level of 14.
This is the JPEG.xbs:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><XnView_script version="1.0" name="Testscript-JPEG">

Re: icon bug with .heic files (1.8.4.)
Bug still persists with XnViewMP 1.8.5 and .avif files.
They are blank. No icon.

1.8.4 Zombie leftover files -> Cleanup routine
I've been using XnViewMP since version 1.5.0
I kept upgrading simply by downloading the latest x64 installer and stacking the new version on top of the old one.
Over the years, there have been a lot of changes to the program, so a veritable zombie file horde has accumulated.

Add Animated AVIF
Today, I learned that AVIF truly does it all: Photos, Logos, Transparency and Animation.
Check this out:

They took a 1080x1080 animation with 60 fps and compared how well GIF and AVIF can display it.

Missing feature: Up & Down key to flip through frames
MP is missing a feature.
In Classic you could use your keyboard's Up and Down keys to flip through the frames of a picture:
xnview missing functionality.png
This is awesome, you can use Right/Left to scroll through a list of images and then Up/Down if you want to flip through the frames.

XnView Batch Conversion & XnConvert -> show [seconds] in the log for benchmarking
If a batch conversion in XnViewMP or XnConvert takes longer than 60 seconds, you have to measure the conversion time on your phone, because XnConvert only shows full minutes:
199 avif full.png
In this example the conversion took 1 minute and 4 seconds.

Re: AVIF settings have vanished
That new library actually seems to to use multi-threading now and has therefore become much faster.
To benchmark this, I compared conversion times between XnConvert 1.98 vs 1.99
I chose to convert a 15.85 MB PNG file (4000x4000 pixels) to AVIF
Hardware: AMD 5700X 8-core/16-threads

AVIF settings have vanished
Where did the detailed .avif settings go?
In XnViewMp 1.6.1 There is only a simple percentage slider left:

For comparison, there used to be many more fine-grained options in XnViewMP <= 1.5.5
