Sorry, for bumping this old thread, but I don't think this topic needs a new thread... so:
Will there ever be arithmetic JPEG support in XnView?
I just tested it on some JPGs using the jpegtran tool and the results in size savings are amazing.

Re: Non-working associations
I have the same problem with Windows 7 and Vista (both x64). Changing the associations simply has no effect, neither is XnView opening the images nor do the icons change to XnView's.
EDIT: Oh, found workaround. Run XnView as normal user. Deselect all associations. Click Ok and exit XV. Then run ...

How do I install plugins?
I've downloaded the webs and pngout plugin. Copied the contents to "C:\Program Files (x86)\XnView\PlugIns\" but I don't see the new functions anywhere in XnView.
"Info->Plug-Ins Information" only shows Xjp2.dll, the one that I've selected during install.

shell extension: Cannot send PNG/etc files to imageshack.us
When I want to upload a PNG, TIFF, BMP or GIF file to imageshack.us using the Windows Explorer, then this option is greyed out! Only JPG files work.
