Automatic Orientation of images

A dumb, newbie question, I hesitate to ask . . .

It strikes me that often portrait images are displayed landscape. I need to selectively change the rotation.
I have no idea whether there are settings to change the rotation, so photos show up the correct way by default, instead of me changing a lot ...

On https://www.xnview.com/wiki/index.php/Image_Rotation it says

"
Permanent rotation
Also, you can rotate permanently the images based on the EXIF information. This will ensure that the images are oriented properly when viewing in any graphic programs. To do this, select all your images and select ...

Re: Some sort of batch to update metadata - rename files

I don't think so, sorry.

My question was not clear, for which I apologize.

It should read:
1. select multiple files
2. CTRL-I (Edit Metadata)
3. in 'Caption" : enter free text (example: New Playground)

then..

when writing:
automatically add caption -> headline and keywords (New Playground added ...

Some sort of batch to update metadata - rename files

I would like to do the following, preferably with a minimum of clicks

After selecting files:

1. add description to Caption
2. then automatically have that description added to Headline and Keywords
3. have the file renamed after Caption + shooting date (like: New playground-ddmmyyyy hhmmss.jpg)
4 ...

Re: Is there a way to export a jpg EXIF info?

The first one worked ( -k "-iptc:headline" "-exif:CreateDate" -w txt)
Didn't try the 2nd one, no reason to.

MANY thanks indeed!!

Really helpful.

Re: Is there a way to export a jpg EXIF info?

Thanks.
I tried various options, but regretfully it didn't work. I let it rest.
Bad luck.
Nonetheless, thanks again.

Probably because the default sort order is based on filename(?)

It would be nice if ...

Re: Compare open files from "Viewer Mode"

Sad news... :(

XnView has something that is not possible in XnViewMP

Whereas I assumed XnViewMP is the more 'advanced' version of XnView.
