I am totally new to linux,
just playing with Ubuntu 9.10 for a while.
I managed to install XnView MP 0.21 on the system, and I am able to start Xnview,
but only when directly double clicking xnview.sh from the directory where the program has been installed.
When I "create a launcher" double ...

There is only the "crossfading" transition available,
nothing more at the moment.

Re: new slide-show effect
Thanks for these links XnTriq,
I wasn't aware of these items.
So since roughly 2006 there has'nt been any updates on these slide-show effects ?
I like, next to my own suggestion, also the "Ken Burns" transition very much.
Too bad that the slide-show effects cannot be expanded using plugins !

new slide-show effect
I have been generating a lot of wide panorama images by stitching individual camera-images.
When viewed with the slide-show option, the images aren't as impressive
as compared to slowly scrolling the entire panorama image horizontaly, with its height stretched maximally.
I was wondering how ...

197b1 crash when scanning
XnView 197b1 crashes when I try to scan a document,
using both the WIA or the TWAIN interface.
The scanning itself seems to work, but after the image is transferred to XnView the program crashes.
I use windows-7 - 32 bit version as an OS.

Re: xnview.ini in program folder with Windows 7
The INI file goes to the "virtual store" on windows-7
c:\users\rra\Appdata\local\Virtual Store\Program Files\
, with RRA being the logged on user offcourse.

OK, I found it:
the option "edit GPS ..."" is only available in the browser-mode , as well as "open GPS location in Geohack" ,
this seems to work OK in windows-7 - 64 bit.

Re: Edit GPS coordinates: how to ?
Oops66,
I was aware of this French post,
still I cannot find an option to "Edit GPS data"
just an option to show the data in Google maps .
Can you check whether this option is available on your system ?

Yesterday I played a while with Picasa's feature to name-tag faces.
First of all, it recoqnized faces very effeciently, and then manually tagging some known faces
provides info for Picasa to automatically tag all similar faces,
the user can ofcourse accept or reject this suggested tags.
