Re: Editing palette of transparent GIFs

[*]Image colors are all mixed up :bug: FYI: [1] The GIF is transparent, 3bpp (!!!), 3 unique colours from 8 (badly optimized), trans index ZERO, colour white ($FF,$FF,$FF) [2] The GIF has a faulty ratio of 49  [3] Nothing is "mixed up", just the view is "broken", and only if transparency in ...

MKV format support isn't native, so it's a problem of an external codec.

Re: Width of PNG in XnView and Word

I made a screenshot, cropped and saved it as PNG Good :-) With XNVIEW only ??? The width is displayed with "15.00 cm", but the real size on screen is "12.50" (measured with a ruler) The physical size refers, if ever, to printing, not the screen ;-) But I don't get any physical size when saving a sh...

Re: Free JPG reduction service

My tests show about 6:1 file size reduction with no discernible differences between the before and after JPGs. I'm skeptical and it needs registration to test :-( Please optimize this one: everdone.jpg and provide the result. That it optimizes better huge images is a strong sign that it's lossy and...

SPAM attack and notifications

http://newsgroup.xnview.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=16007 <- just now "total posts 27" I'm frequently getting notifications on "answers" ... but when looking in here there is no new answer on affected (old) threads. Since this problem probably affects other forums too, isn't there a soluti...

Re: Flash vid downloader

A free, source-available command line program for Linux, Windows Interesting (there are 1'000'000'000'000 flash downloaders around, but all those others are absurdly bloated and GUI only). All those others can download from "easy" (Youtube&Co) pages only, I know no solution for all the "tough" page...

Opera 11.10 (2011-04-12)

Opera 11.10 is out (2011-04-12) :-)

What's new:

- Fixed horrible NOSCRIPT-BUG of 11 and 11.01 (undocumented http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/1110/ :-| )

- Added support for WebP format, test here: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 5&start=15

[1.98b3] WebP format autodetection doesn't work

NC585 -info BLAHPNG.PNG OK
NC585 -info BLAHPNG.XXX OK
NC585 -info BLAHJP2.XXX (plugin) OK (but see other thread about decoding)
NC585 -info BLAHWEBP.WEP OK
NC585 -info BLAHWEBP.XXX (plugin) "Don't know how to read this picture"

WebP format is very easy to detect.

[1.98b3] JPEG-2000 returns empty (black) frames

Both XN and NC, on JPEG-2000 it pretends success (and reports correct info), but the output is just a black frame. http://jafile.com/uploads/dos386/wolfs.jp2

Compression info (new WebP, partially old problem)

-info 1. For WebP (plugin), the output is "Uncompressed", this is definitely wrong, should be "Lossy: VP8/WebP" 2. For PNG, it says "ZIP", this is not very good, better answer: "Lossless: Deflate+Filters" 3. For JPEG-2000 (plugin), it says "Wavelet" ... correct, but would be nice to know whether it...

"XNview legacy" isn't discontinued yet :|

Some ideas:

- Keep it clean & simple
- Javascript optional, stay usable without
- For possible videos, use HTML5 + free codecs only (not Flash)

Re: [sugg/BUG?] NCONVERT plugin management: make it fool pro

Nconvert use Plugin folder, not for you?? I had it in my tests ... but allowing to place plugins into same directory too would be an improvement. :-) With which command? I don't have it for sure (yet) ... I see the strings only ("Plugins\webp.dll" and "msvcr90.dll") ... so I suspect LoadLibrary as ...

[sugg/BUG?] NCONVERT plugin management: make it fool proof

(as started in messy thread: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=21685 ) Problem: plugin management in NC is not very user friendly and fool-proof (+ possibly even buggy). - Plugins are not accepted in same directory as NC - It says "Error: Don't know how to read this picture" ... but better...

Re: What happened to 1.98?

http://www.free-codecs.com/ Interesting to see XnView beta testers left in the dark. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XnView.htm XnView helps you to view and convert a wide range of graphic files. It has support for over 400 graphics formats. It is easy to use, simple and above all, IT'S FREE! G...
