I'm VERY much impressed about the capabilities of MP when using it as a browser of video files!!
If i had a wishlist, i would suggest 2 small things:
- in browser mode, if you have selected only one file and click on the thumb,
show the name of the selected file in the status bar (because the name ...

Re: XnViewMP 0.81 - associated program and default viewer
Mea culpa ... user error. This option already exists! (custom filter, Open with associated program).
Now the doubleclick on video thumbs works too (opens the video in the associated program).

Re: Possible to restrict an addon (ffmpeg.exe) fo a file typ
I found a workaround (for Windows7 x86, x64) with that i can live because
** it does not imply any loss of performance when creating the video thumbs **:
a) Install k-lite, but do not install any codecs, install the codec tweak tool only (here you can enable the thumbnails)
or
b) use Icaros shell ...

Re: Possible to restrict an addon (ffmpeg.exe) fo a file typ
Hi Erixx haxx,
Thanks for your interest!
For to exclude the potential side-effect you mentioned i excluded the FLVs (only 8 from 100!) from the test
an rerun it (= with MP4 files only, having system provided codec).

Yes Pierre, exactly as AddOn\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe (location and name are relevant, otherwise it is not called).
-Meanwhile, as i'm very interested in performance and so now focused on this issue, i did a performance test. You might be interested in the results:

Does it know whether the call to DirectShow fails, resp. returns a system icon instead of a real thumb?

Re: Possible to restrict an addon (ffmpeg.exe) fo a file typ
HI Erixx haxx,
again, there are pros and cons. Who will decide what is the right pack? the right version? and who is guilty in the case of trouble?
And, beyond this thumb issue i have none needs for those packs, for none application. Most media specific apps come with their own builtin decoders. I ...

Re: XnViewMP 0.81 - associated program and default viewer
Hello XnView,
i see this problem. Nobody wants to explode settings.
But, as far as you keep a distinction resp. grouping between "image" files and "video/audo" files,
i could image a minimalistic approach:
- define a flag for the underlying Open method (eg. Open with internal viewer for images ...

Hi!
I think there are pros and cons about codec packs. Oftenly there are known to cause trouble.
And who will decide which one to use? Cution, they are deep into the system.
Personally i don't need them. For playing there are good specialists (MPC-HC), for cutting also (Avidemux),

Re: Possible to restrict an addon (ffmpeg.exe) fo a file typ
Hi XnTriq:
No thumbs for AVI files either (without codec pack).
For WMV files they are fine.
With AddOn\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe i have both . but the cost is an overall slowdown of the thumbnail creation.
I think thumbs for the common video file types AVI and FLV should be available with builtin means ...

Re: Different size/position of browser and viewer
I would like to renew this suggesion.
Having this option, it would is possible to keep the viewing window (size, position) different
from the browser window, so appearing as a seperate window rather than a register sheet within the main window.

Doubleclick on thumb for video file does nothing

Doubeclicking on a thumb for a video file (flv, mp4) does nothing,

I would have expected that the file is "Open"ed at least.
