Preload more files for viewing

With images getting bigger and bigger along with CPU-power and RAM size, i think it makes sense to let XNView make more use of those resources in order to speed up viewing and thus improve the user experience. That's why i'm asking for a feature to pre-load (and cache) more images, when skipping ...

Re: Corrupt PNGs unreadable - or are they?

Can you open the images if you deactivate the Ignore read errors setting in T ools » Options » General » Read/Write » General ?

You may also want to examine the files with TweakPNG ( F ile » Check Validity ).
Sorry for my late reply. I should have tried that, but i've already recovered those ...

Corrupt PNGs unreadable - or are they?

This is very weird. I was sent 2 PNGs via email, and they arrived in unreadable condition. Now the funny part is, that the thumb-nailer was able to create thumbs for them, but if i tried to open them it xnview tells me there was an "error opening file".

So, why can't i open those pictures when ...

Hab ...

Re: Windows: Still using Video for Windows?

I don't use Vfw, but the phonon API which uses DirectShow
That's strange. The thumbnail creation still reacts on changes made to my VfW codecs. Namely: if i disable the DivX VfW codec i don't get any thumbnails for those files in XNView MP anymore. In Windows Explorer they still show up btw.

They ...

Windows: Still using Video for Windows?

Are you really still using VfW for decoding video files? That API is really, really, REALLY old (invented 1992 for Windows 3.1 - Internet Explorer wasn't even invented back then!) and might not even be part of the next Windows version. So wouldn't it be better and the best opportunity to switch over ...

Zoom slider

I think it'd be better, if that instant thumbnail-size slider was only regenerating thumbnails if you tell it to.

If you have a folder with LOTS of potential thumbnails, generating them can take a lot of time.

So i suggest that XNView should generate thumbnails once at the currently selected (or ...

Kein Denglisch ...

I have the same problem with Fireforx 3 on Vista 64bit. If i drag'n'rop an image from the browser to the desktop all transparency is lost. If i save it via right-click the transparency is still there.

So i think it's a Ff bug for now.

Edit: ok, seem like it's not:
cf_hdrop was removed completely ...

So, has anyone tried this? Any confirmation?

I thought it through once more, and i'm pretty confident it's a rounding issue. If the result of the resizing procedure doesn't result in an integer, it'll be impossible to exactly fit the images into their place.

The procedure is probably just rounding ...

No, i just double-checked with Photoshop.

XNView: Keep print size = off
Pshop: Resample image = on
-> both programs behave in the same way
-> good.

Pshop: Resample image = off
-> both programs behave differently
-> good as well.

Why? Because it's not the same ...

But remember that the current functionality would be lost (change PPI -> resize image, but keep print size). You can't even do that in Photoshop directly IIRC.
