Re: Geotagging: adding GPS data to the image EXIF contents

...
good summary.
Suggestion: precise what tool is indeed used to set the meta data, e.g. GeoSetter is using ExifTool, and thus sometimes slow. So it could be a new column "tagger" in your table, either with "internal" or e.g. "ExifTool".
Another column could be the "mapping" tool, e.g. GoogleMaps ...

Geotagging: adding GPS data to the image EXIF contents

Thanks to a couple of threads in this forum, I found some software for geotagging my images. Then with Google I found some more.
In fact, I found so many that I thought it would be useful to summarise my findings as a mini-review.

I have posted it here: http://web.aanet.com.au/cameron/GPS/GPS ...

I don't understand, sorry

PTLens 8.4.12 seems to work correctly with XnView 1.91.2

Correctly extracts exif camera details and applies to image.

Chromatic aberration seems to work.

I cannot reproduce this. Is your change big enough to show up in the thumbnail?

I tried with paint and Photoshop and the thumbnail was updated every time (TIFFs and BMPs - no compression).

Simplest test is just to flip the image horizontally. That way you know it is a big change in a thumbnail.

Now we are getting somewhere - it mainly seems to be some sort of caching issue.

I could not create any new file that exhibited the problem, or use the same procedure with Photoshop, or even just copy/paste the entire file. The old file said 24-bit and the new file said 48-bit!

I uninstalled and ...

XnView 1.91.2 on Win XP SP2

I think there has been some improvement between 1.91.1 and 1.91.2 with 16-bits per colour images, but there are still some issues.

I checked the same 16-bit file in 3 formats, produced by Photoshop CS: TIFF, PSD, PNG
in the properties tab of the file browser all ...
