xnview gets tired - doesn't display images 100% size

Post by obelisk »

If i'm browsing a folder with 400 NEFs, viewing fullscreen, deleting, moving around, xnview eventually gets tired and:
:bugconfirmed:
doesn't rotate files
loads image at about 20% size - and calls it 100%
loads even smaller and my 12MP file is shown at about 200x400px

it never recovers and you must restart

Memory can run out if multiple images remain open (listed in Menu... Window).
With settings:
'Menu... View>[ ]Tabs'
'Options... View>[ ]Only one window view opened'.

Config is WinXP, 3GB ram.
I switch between fullscreen & browser only
there are no other tabs

sounds like a memory leak then

I don't recall another similar post. If changing second option above isn't effective, perhaps disabling read ahead cache is worth trying.

I can confirm now, after the error, turning off one or both cache options, it continues to read the image wrongly

It is now very repeatable.
I have folder with D800 raw, 36MP 40MB each.
Total about 200 files.

Start XnView in that folder. View fullscreen. Use pgdn to go next.
Sometimes use pgup to compare back. Sometimes press del while fullscreen.

Guaranteed after about 50 files, the issue occurs.

Yes I do.
And I notice it's OK full screen, but in viewer mode is very slow.

In full screen if image is incorrectly rotated, then exit to browser then full screen again will fix it. Maybe it's still shrunk like before but 36MP is very big so still fills screen.

Anyway now I always restart xnview every 40 pics viewed.
