MOV files will not play automatically on W2k laptop

Post by chzuck »

I have XnView installed on my desktop and an old Thinkpad T22 laptop. Desktop is running XP and laptop is running W2kPRO with all the updates and hotfixes. On the desktop when I click on an MOV file, XnView will automatically play the video, while on the laptop it will not. If I click on Open with - Assocaited program it will play the video with VLC Media player, which is the player installed on the laptop. I assume that the desktop computer is using the video player within XnView.
Why won't the laptop do the same? One thing I should mention, Quicktime is not installed on the laptop. Could that be the reason?

XnView is image baed not video :) It uses the video codec installed. So you can install Klite codec pack for example...
