I'm using version 2.05 and I'm having all kinds of issues with it sorting files alphabetically and by type.
I'm pretty sure that when I sort files by "type" that .PDF files ought to be together without .FLV or .MPG files mixed in between, above, and below them.

Re: File Sorting Issues
I've tried to reproduce your problem. There is something really going wrong, in my case for example the ZIP files (German: "WinZIP-Datei") and files with unknown filetype ("Unknown") in column "Type" are not listed next to each other. And the order of the entries in column "Type" is anything but alphabetically.ozc2k wrote:So no solution or anything?

Yeah I noticed the Alphanumeric order is off at times as well.helmut wrote: "Type" are not listed next to each other. And the order of the entries in column "Type" is anything but alphabetically.

Re: 2.05: File Sorting by type does not work properly
Sigh... It seems when XnView wants to sort files by type they don't mean .jpg or .png.
I am trying to read a manga and chapter 2 is showing up before chapter 1 in the order.
Both chapters are Jpeg, however chapter 2 is Truecolor v1.1 and chapter 1 is 256 Grayscale.
I think that's taking file types a bit tooooooo farrrrrrr.
Can we please get "sort by file types" fixed so the only thing that's seen is jpg, png, etc? Or at least give us an option to dumb it down?

Ah I see.oops66 wrote:Hello, ... even with the 2.10 version (or 2.13 now) ?
Updated to v2.13...
Yes it's still placing True Color jpegs after Grey Scale jpegs in version 2.13.
Screenshot:
001, 002, and 018 are truecolor, the rest are greyscale jpgs.
I found the problem. It's sorting by "format", not by "type" aka the extension.
Format should be a different option.
