BUG: Unable to open .rar from XnView browser...

BUG: Unable to open a .rar file from XnView browser. When I try nothing happens. As a workaround, I have to manually press F3 to open with associated program. Can this be fixed?

Not really a bug, rather a format that isn't currently supported...

RAR and ZIP are archive formats as you know rather than image file formats, and although there have been several requests to add support they haven't been added yet. So really a feature request rather than a bug report...

but other non-image files types work correctly. just not the .rar. and the .rar used to work correctly before xnview 2.x.

i haven't installed any addon. but this used to work fine without any addon back in 1.x.

NOTE: i just want xnview to let me open a .rar file with winrar. so winrar should popup externally. currently, nothing happens and i have to press F3 to manually make it happen.

no, xnview had always used rar addon

but i'm not requesting to view the contents of the .rar inside xnview. i just want to be able to open the .rar from xnview, like windows explorer.

thanks, i just have to change that setting. [options > general > keyboard/mouse > option action (browser) > archives]

but i recommend that setting to be off by default and only auto switch on when the addon is installed. otherwise, it's very confusing to new users--since it does nothing without the addon.
