pictures resize in 4:3

Post by papuche37 »

Hi,
I've got pictures in 16:9 which i want to resize (smaller). I select my file, "convert", "transformation", "resize", fill "50%". But my file resized in 4:3.

I tried clicking "keep format" but it doesn't work.

PS : i use xnview in french.
PS : i used xniew in the past and didn't have this problem.

Thanks a lot.
Fred.

You wish to reduce the image pixel dimensions by 50% while maintaining the ratio?

Could you post a screenshot of the settings you are using (XnView in French)?

Edit:

Do you have 'Garder les proportions' checked if that setting is present?

You did say 'in the forum'... Yes, lol !!! :(

You can add further images the same way you added the first; you have placed the first image 'inline' in your post and can do the same with further attachments. You may possibly find the following link useful:

And for your second screenshot, it's the same settings than me.
I think I've found the problem, setting '50%' didn't work the way I expected, either, from other similar setup windows. Please try this procedure:
Image_3.png
Image_3.png (30.29 KiB) Viewed 1357 times
Click on the '%' radio button, then click on the button marked in red to the right, select 50%, and then -- with 'Garder les proportions' selected -- 50% should appear automatically in both the 'Largeur' and 'Hauteur' boxes as shown...

Edit:

Alternatively, you can key '50' into both the 'Largeur' and 'Hauteur' '%' boxes directly, without using the button outlined in red...

In some setup windows [possibly only in XNViewMP and XnConvert ??] when 'Garder les proportions' is selected, a value typed in one box is automatically also entered in the other. :D

Hi,
It doesn't work. Even if i click on the double arrow and select 50%, and check "garder les proportions", my picture is resized in 4:3.
And when i click on the arrows, all format displayed are in 4:3, none in 16:9.

I use the 2.32 release, with win 8.
In the past, i didn't have this problem (with XP).
