Poor performance while cataloging

Post by immo2014 »

I am on a dir with about 10.000 jpg each about 1mb

pc is i7 with 4 cores + ht on 20gg

hdd is sdd so basically 200mb transfer speed 0ms

I selected 800x800 thumbnails and speed was about 8 pics/s wich is very poor

os is win 8.1

any chance to improve or is 8 files/s somewhat a hardlimit?

HI I switched to jpg thumb for database and decreased the size of thumb a little so speed is ok now. Kinda Problem is solved although U guess it could be possible to use multicore to parse the files faste

zip for catalog database was very slow (multicore?)

after all very decent sofware and only crashing a few times despite my insane testload of dirs with 10k pics

Read this: http://www.xnview.com/wiki/index.php/Xn ... e_solution

Tl;dr: Use WebP as compression. Put your DB on a 2nd drive if you can.
