0.76: Doesn't select area in image

My system is openSuSE Leap 42.1/64. Install seems OK, but area selection doesn't work -- I could see the message

MyBitmapView :: mousePressEvent

and ... nothing happens (area selection doesn't work and "crop" tool doesn't active).

I could start the old XnView 1.7 on my system, but it also shows the problem -- both program controls and image areas are semi-transparent with the rest of screen.
