Categories vs. Keywords

Hi!
maybe someone can help me with the Categories and the Keywords.

What is the difference between?
Why do I need both?

What I understand:

Keywords are stored as IPTC in the JPG File
Categories are stored in the XNView Database and can be read by XnView only

Are these both information synchronized? When I change the Keyword the Category is add, too. But when I change the Keyword for more than one file the Category will not be changed (Save All). Is this a bug?

Hi:

Everything depends on what settings you have ticked under:

Click a picture or pictures then go to
Tools>> Metdata>> Edit

The last tab here tells xnviewmp how to write/add/delete keywords and such.
