0.84: How to wipe your entire catalog

Post by m.Th. »

Disclaimer: Do NOT try this on your production catalog - or make sure to have a WORKING backup ready!

Steps:

0. Have some folders cataloged. Have some images with Ratings, Color Labels and Categories

1. Go to Tools | Settings | Catalog
2. Click on Optimize...
3. Select the following options
Optimize-options.JPG
Optimize-options.JPG (23.05 KiB) Viewed 425 times
4. Press Ok. The „optimization” process begins...

Expected: Have only the files which are reachable (directories which are still on disk/LAN etc.)

Actual: The catalog is deleted entirely (!!)

I've just tried with 0.84 and I cannot confirm: Existing files are still assigned to categories.

Perhaps because the files are re-read from embedded metadata?

Re-test and look at Tools | Settings | Catalog - do you see in the Cached Directory list many directories?
