Hi there,
I've just dowloaded and installed the new version 1.80.1
I can see the thumbnails of CR2 images (raw files from a canon 20d), but when I click on them only a black image is shown.
Is it still a bug or should I change some options?
thank you for your help
Francesco

Perhaps you could take a look at Option/Read/RAW cameraFrancesco wrote:I've just dowloaded and installed the new version 1.80.1

Thank you very much for advise. There was incorrect brightness setting in Options -> Read -> Camera RAW. The brightness 0.00 was set. After I set it to 1.00 NEF files are displayed correctly. However, the wrong value was set by default. Here is what was default in my installation (if I remember it correctly):
[ ] Use automatic white balance
[X] Use camera white balance
Gamma: 0.01
Brightness: 0.00
Red scaling: 1.00
Blue scaling: 1.00
[ ] Use automatic white balance
[X] Use camera white balance
Gamma: 0.01
Brightness: 0.00
Red scaling: 1.00
Blue scaling: 1.00
Strange, i'll checkAnonymous wrote:Thank you very much for advise. There was incorrect brightness setting in Options -> Read -> Camera RAW. The brightness 0.00 was set. Pierre.
I did some tests, too. I uninstalled XnView, deleted the xnview.ini and then installed the XnView again. This time defaults were set as gamma: 0.60, brightness: 0.80 and everything worked OK. I am sorry, I do not remember what I did differently first time. Maybe I did upgrade from previous version although I remember I did clean install. I even wanted to do this upgrade again but I was not able to find older 1.80 version again.
However, the most important fact is that RAW images are viewable and if not just check your Camera RAW settings in Options. At least this was the problem in my case. Maybe others should reply if this was the problem for them, too.
