Importing ACDSee keywords

Post by LyndaT23 »

I have just changed from ACDSee to XNView MP. Is there a way to import the ACDSee keywords to XNView. They appear in XMP as Keywords but don't show in Categories.
Is there a way for them to show up in Categories?
thanks

Do you have checked settings>Metadata>Import XMP subject?

I have that checked in Settings.
I'm guessing that the ACDSee keywords aren't transferable to other programs so might need to redo all of these.

If you can see keywords in Xmp tab (info pane in XnViewMP), I think you can recover them.
How are them shown ? "DC subject" ?
Did you use "Import folder" button (in Settings>Catalog)
Or View>Update catalog from files? (with a set of photos selected)

In XMP there is an acdsee field. Terms that appear in categories show in XNViiew categories. acdsee keywords do not show in categories.
I have tried Import Settings > Catalog > Import folder, and also View > Update folder - neither seems to change what is shown in Categories.
Here is a screen shot of the info panel for 1 image

Thanks for following up on this Pierre.
When you look at XMP data under acdsee there are listings for categories and keywords. The categories seem to have carried across but not the keywords. See attached screen dump of XMP for that file.
Can you shed any light on this? thanks again for trying to sort this out for me.
