I have installed XnViewMP and Ghostscript on a fresh WIN10 system and I also cannot see PDFs.

Are you able to view a PDF file in the viewer/editor, which would confirm that the GS version you have installed is compatible with the 'MP 1.0 version installed? There have been compatibility issues in the recent past due to changes in new GS versions.

Some PDF thumbnails display correctly, while others fail to load. The ones that display properly can be opened in preview mode; the ones that don’t display cannot be opened as a preview.

Interestingly, when I copy one of the problematic PDFs into a different folder, the thumbnail appears immediately and the PDF can then be opened without any issues.

The PDF was created in Affinity Publisher 2.0. The working PDFs were created in Affinity Designer 2.0.

Are you able to post a test file for Pierre?

There have in the past been reports of certain PDF files that open in other viewers not opening in xnview.com software, but this looks like a different issue.

There are two options. First option - nothing happened, second one - xmp file was created:

For the three pdfs I sent: one shows the thumbnail, one shows it after copying it to another folder, and the last one doesn't show the thumbnail. Not even when I update the catalog.

You wrote: "select the file and metadata>Update catalog", but in the Czech version there are two options:
metadata>Update catalog from files
metadata>Update files from catalogs

The first option does nothing. The second one generates xmp. Anyway, I still can't display the thumbnail pdfs that remain in their folder.
