Copying or printing search results

Post by mstratil »

I have learned how to search for files containing specific exif information. But I cannot figure out how to copy or print the results. My search found 800 files matching my criteria, and I need this list of file names.

Can someone help me figure out how to do this?

Hello
You can use : Create > File listing menu

If you want to reopen in xnviewmp your list with the "File > Open list" menu, you have to respect a particular formatting:
- Use "Text" format when creating the list, and ...
- either use only {Directory}{Filename With Ext} in the first box
- Or, use double quotes "{Directory}{Filename With Ext}" in the first box , and any other data in the same box, or in follwing boxes
- Edit your file and remove the first line, containing headers

Other info
If there is one field by box, the separator of fields will be a "Tab" character
You can also add many values in the same box, so you can choose your separator character such as
"{Directory}{Filename With Ext}";{Size};{Format};{Comment} with semicolon

Hi Michel,

Thank you for your suggestion. But I'm not sure I understand.

My problem is that I can't figure out how to select all the lines in the results window. I can create a file, but it has no content. Can you instruct me on how to select all of the results in the results window?

Best regards,

Mike

Sorry, I forgot the beginning
The search function gives a window with n files found .
Click on the "Browse" button to display these files in the browser, then select all of them (Ctrl A)
... now you can follow the instructions in my first post and use "create file list"
Depending on your needs, I can advise you on the settings to use

I think you should first try on a small folder to set up the method
