That is the location I would prefer, but for now XnViewMP only works correctly with the DB in C:\Users\<username>\appdata\roaming\XNViewMP.

In previous ini it was 'I:/Foto's/XnView/XnView/' not 'I:/Foto's/XnView/XnView/XnView.db/'Fres wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 4:47 pm That is the location I would prefer, but for now XnViewMP only works correctly with the DB in C:\Users\<username>\appdata\roaming\XNViewMP.

That is a correct observation, but when I want to stipulate the (adjusted) location in W11 XnViewMP requires to name a file; a folder isn't enough any more apparently. Re enclosed screenshot.

right, it's a bug, so you can edit the xnview.ini. Is it working now?Fres wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:18 pm That is a correct observation, but when I want to stipulate the (adjusted) location in W11 XnViewMP requires to name a file; a folder isn't enough any more apparently. Re enclosed screenshot.

It does not change the result whether I take out the filename Xnview.db in the .ini file or not. The open db location button comes back with the desktop. Only when I stipulate the db location as 'user/system' XnviewMP works correctly.

Re: How to migrate XnViewMP to new PC?
Could you please be more specific on what I should change in .ini file? In my former reply I mentioned already that simply eliminating (or adding) the file name xnview.db in the file location of the db did not have any effect. Perhaps you want more or other changes?

Re: How to migrate XnViewMP to new PC?
This suggestion does not affect the location of the db. In settings/paths I can only succesfully open the db location button if the setting is 'system(user)' i.e in the appdata location.

you need to change dbFlag too, for exmaple
Code: Select all
dbFlag=2
dbFolder=C:/tmp/

Re: How to migrate XnViewMP to new PC?
Sorry to reply to you negatively once more: Changing dbFag to 2 and maintaining my db location on I: does not seem to have any effect. Even after a cold reboot. XnView does not maintain the changes in the location settings.

My Xnview.ini is enclosed (as pdf-file). My preferred db location is I:\Foto's\XnView\XnView.

your dbfolder is I:/Foto's/XnView/XnView/XnView.db/ so change it to dbFolder=I:/Foto's/XnView/XnView/

Dear Pierre,
Re to your latest advice: we have gone through that already. Re to my post on Nov 17th 9.198PM it did not work. Apparently XnViewMP (under W11) requires a filename for the DB. A foldername was not enough.
