Show Color Information only shows white square [Solved]

Using Linux, Arch XFCE 4.18. I cannot find anywhere to adjust colors that affects SCI.
Noted: It seems to change size as I move the cursor over pixels. As if it is white text on white background.

In Linux Mint Cinnamon 20, XnView MP 1.4.0, when I check View > Show colour information I see this:

That is with default settings, I am not sure whether there is a control for text colour, I doubt it.

Looking at your image, the aspect ratio of the rectangle looks the same as in mine, but the background colour in yours is white rather than light yellow.

I am afraid I have no idea of the possible cause, I can only confirm that it works correctly in Linux Mint, other than to wonder if there might possibly be .ini settings involved which seems quite unlikely.

You also reported that your rectangle changes size as you move the cursor?? You are, stupid question, using View > Show colour information Ctrl-Shift-I?

yes, size changes every so slightly on the x axis mostly. ( i assume this is just adjustment from the RGB values of low range to high range going from 0,0,0 to 255, 255, 255 (wider) But I don't know. I don't consider this (the rectangle size) a bug, just reporting what ever I can, so I can find a way to see the info, which I do consider a bug )

Very strange, if you would like to try an earlier version this is the link: Older versions.

If you didn't check the checksum of your download you could possibly try repeating the download. Or you could possibly try an alternative Linux download of 1.4.0, in a situation like this trying anything you can think of sometimes provides an unexpected insight...

I tried using both packages in the AUR (standard and system-libs) both have the white rectangle.

update:
"FIXED"
I nuked the entire xnviewmp folder in .config.
Now it works. (I just have to re-do all my settings...)
Perhaps an older setting was in conflict with a newer version of xnviewmp.

Not quite fixed:
The bug is triggered by choosing Darkscheme or Blackscheme at first run. Can be undone by setting "style=-1" in ~/.config/xnviewmp/xnview.ini
