1.4.0 MP: Windows 64 GPS crash [Solved]

Post by rusitzky »

XnView: MP 1.4.0 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 11 64bit

Choosing "GPS" tab in "Info" panel causes crash

Effect: Program crashes

(This may be a duplicate of topic 44447 - Affichage GPS sur version 1.4.0 du 12/12/2022 - but that's in french and I can't tell for sure.)

To reproduce:
1. Open XnView
2. Choose a photo that shows the "GPS" tab in the "Info" panel
3. Click "GPS"
Actual behaviour (bug): XnView crashes
Expected behaviour: XnView shows GPS info

Note: Windows event viewer reports this:
EventID 1000 (Error):
Faulting application name: xnviewmp.exe, version: 1.4.0.0, time stamp: 0x6396ea03
Faulting module name: Qt5Core.dll, version: 5.15.11.0, time stamp: 0x6332aa78

Faulting package-relative application ID:

There's also an EventId 1001 which looks like it created a "WER" - let me know if you want me to upload / email that.

Thanks very much for your help.

Sorry, but it's still doing the same thing. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still the same thing. I am using the "Setup Win 64bit" download link under "Installer for Windows".

As a follow-up, I tried downloading the Windows 64-bit zip version and that works fine, so I'm assuming it's an issue with the MSI (exe) packaging. Hope that helps.

I'm using XnView 1.4.0 MP on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) and I have the same issue. Is there a fix for Linux as well?

Just downloaded and installed latest .deb on Linux Mint. Confirm crash after select GPS tab.

I'm running fedora 37 and XnViewMP 1.4.0 64bits and this is still occuring. I have tried uninstall/reinstall, but flathub version keeps crashing while clicking GPS tab. I can see from about, that this version was compiled Dec 12 2022, and there is no newer version available,

Unfortunately, Pierre cannot produce Flatpak versions himself, so when an issue is fixed there may be a delay -- sometimes in the past quite a long delay -- before the new version is available in that format... :(

Are you able to install one of the other downloads?

No, there is only one version available. Anyway, this is not a major issue for me, I can wait for update. and other features of xnviewmp are working fine. Maybe I could install new version somehow, but for me this is currently not a showstopper. I can continue with 2022 pictures categorization!
