Thumbnail and Preview not displaying correctly

Can someone please tell me what is happening with these files? The first one is an xcf file used by GIMP and the other two are pfi files used by PhotoFiltre. They all contain layers.

1) XCF file:
XnView displays one layer as the thumbnail but a different one as the preview.

2) PFI files:
The first pfi file is being treated as an 'other' filetype whereas the second one is recognised as a filetype.

3) Why are the xcf files listed before the pfi files when I have the sort order as ascending?

Thumbnail doesn't use layers but embedded image so you can see a difference

XCF has file type 'Gimp', and PFI 'Photofiltre'

Ah yes, my mistake, I didn't realise I was sorting by Type instead of Name.

It's been nearly two months, just wondering if you've checked into this issue yet?

Still waiting for an update but, in the meantime, I've discovered the same strange issue with PDF files. Here I have two - one displays a thumbnail and the other doesn't.
