I've switched from Classic to MP.
However, the new file type icons are feeling odd
I'm so used to the Classic file icons.
Is it possible to keep the Classic file type icons while using XnView MP as your default image program?

Re: How to use Classic file icons?
I extracted the old file-type icons from xnview.exe:
- Download the ZIP archive attached to this post.
- Make a backup of the *.ico files in the FileIcons subfolder of your XnView MP installation.
- Extract the contents of xnview_classic_file-type_icons.zip into the FileIcons subfolder of your XnView MP installation.
- Rebuild the icon cache of Windows.

Re: How to use Classic file icons?
Thank you! This was quite the comprehensive answer.
I downloaded the Classic icon set (step 1), made a backup (step 2) and put them in the folder (step 3).
Then I set all .icos to read-only mode, just to be safe.
After a Windows reboot, the Classic icons showed up.
So you can save yourself the work of manually rebuilding the icon cache (step 4).
A simple reboot does it.
