Uncategorized in Catalog Filter View
Greetings,
I am a brand new user. I was forced to quit DigiKam because strangely, it was deleting my 'tags' (categories in XnView).
I think I am up and running again but wanted to check to make sure all the deleted tags/categories were restored. So, I clicked on "Uncategorized" and that must not mean what I thought it did because many of my photos are there and they definitely have tags/categories.
SO MY QUESTIONS:
1. What does 'Uncategorized" mean?
2. How can I find my photos that have no tag/category? Thank you!!

Re: Uncategorized in Catalog Filter View
If I'm understanding what Catalog means...
I have 1 file of my photos - that's the only file I care about finding any 'categorized' items. When I click on 'uncategorized' it will show me all the files on my computer.

Re: Uncategorized in Catalog Filter View
I'm not sure what you mean. I am only interested in applying categories to my photos which are in on file and then sub files by date. I have applied categories to most of them. In order to know which ones do not have categories applied, I was hoping to find a place where I could separate all my photos that don't have categories. I thought that was the 'Uncategorized' in the Catalog Filter tab, but it doesn't seem so.
I hope I'm not being totally dense. I am brand new to XnView and trying to figure it all out.

I don't see how this is true because I can go to "Uncategorized" and there find photos that definitely have a category attached to it. That's what prompted me to ask the question - what does it mean.

I have looked at every setting and can't find anything that says "Math". Can you direct me to where this is?xnview wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 1:55 pmDo you have change 'Math' setting?4FamilyPhotos wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 5:35 pm I'm not sure what you mean. Re: Uncategorized in Catalog Filter View
Thank you for the screenshot. I tried a number of different combinations with that setting but don't really understand the differences. It seems to have no effect on my difficulty - how do I see all my photos that do not have a Category? "Uncategorized" does not seem to be it. Are there other settings I should look at? Or other suggestions to answer my question?

Re: Uncategorized in Catalog Filter View
I'm pretty confused too. I thought my question was a pretty easy one. "How do I filter out all my 'uncategorized' photos so I can see which don't have Categories assigned to them.

If you use 'Global', and click 'uncategories', you should see all files from the catalog that have no associated category
